Big revelation from Doc Rivers on Adrian Griffin's ouster by the Bucks

Jan. 23 saw the Bucks fire first-year coach Adrian Griffin. He led the squad for 43 games, winning 30.

Milwaukee finished second in the East. After cutting Griffin, the Bucks pursued Doc Rivers, a free agent after the Philadelphia 76ers fired him last season.

Milwaukee's trade of Griffin was controversial. Rivers said on Sirius XM NBA Radio that Milwaukee's decision confused him.

“I'll be honest,” Rivers remarked. When our owners contacted, I said, 'I'll be honest, I don't understand why you're doing this.' "Well, it doesn't matter," they said.

We've done it and want you. So, that was hard. You hesitate there."

Rivers has lost seven of his first 10 games as Milwaukee's coach. The team's defensive issues persist despite the coaching change.

Rivers recently acknowledged that the work is harder than expected.

Pressure is on the Bucks to improve. Last summer's Damian Lillard signing was intended to become them championship contenders.
