Outlander's Lauren Lyle takes centre stage in new thriller Mercy Fall

Lauren Lyle is well-known among TV fans for her supporting role as Marsali MacKimmie Fraser in Outlander and, more recently, as the titular investigator in Karen Pirie.

She is now transitioning into film, and fans can see her in the gripping thriller Mercy Falls.

Mercy Falls, which is now available in UK cinemas ahead of a digital release on November 9, stars Lyle as Rhona, who travels into the Scottish highlands with her close group of friends in quest of a long-lost family cottage.

However, Rhona's quest quickly turns into a nightmare when a deadly accident results in a murder and a desperate fight for survival.

To celebrate its release, Digital Spy spoke with Lauren Lyle about her preparation for the part, venturing into the horror genre, putting Scotland on the map, and Stevie Nicks.

I was searching for movie roles. We shot it nearly two years ago, and I had just finished filming Karen Pirie, which was a bit of a break in terms of a major lead part and having your own program.

So I'd done a lot of television and decided it was time to consider what else I wanted to do.My agent and I discussed how we wanted to pursue theatre or film and push for it, but theatre is so difficult to find the appropriate time and show,

and there's never enough on. Whereas movies began to come to me gradually, this was one of the first to arrive, and it looked like a lot of fun.
