However, when the time came in 1992 for George Jones to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, it came as a surprise to him 

even if no one else was. The unforgettable moment occurred at the 1992 CMA Awards.  

George Jones was having a career revival at the time, with the success of "He Stopped Loving Her Today" 

in the 1980s catapulting him back onto the charts. In addition, in the 1990s, he joined with a new record label, MCA.
